Wu Junyong: Totalitarian Portrait at Art HK 10

May 26 - May 30, 2010

F2 Gallery, Beijing and Fabien Fryns Fine Art, Los Angeles are pleased to present a multi-media solo exhibition “Totalitarian Portrait” by Wu Junyong at Art Hong Kong 2010. We are located at Booth F13.

Wu’s practice involves drawings, paintings, sculptures and animated video work. He has always been interested in the concept of hybrid of body and politics; almost all the images in his work are derived and drifted from the border area of physiology and sociology. His works are social portraits wavering between reality and fantasy, creating some of the most hunting and disturbing images from his generation.

Wu is born in Fujian province in 1978; he received his BFA and MFA from China Academy of Art respectively in 2000 and 2005. Since 2002, Wu has been exhibiting widely in China and abroad. His recent selected solo exhibitions include Totalitarian Portrait, F2 Gallery, Art Hong Kong (2010); Club Primavera, Hanart TZ Gallery, Hongkong (2008); Opera, Chinese Contemporary, New York (2007); The Sky Has A Mouth, Chinese Contemporary, Beijing (2006). His recent group exhibitions include Generation Hangzhou 2.0, F2 Gallery, Beijing (2009); MY CHINA NOW – A Moving Image Project, Hayward Gallery, London (2008); Farewell to Post-Colonialism, The Third Guangzhou Triennial, Guangdong Museum of Art (2008); The Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, Toronto (2007); China Gate, Arko Art Museum, Seoul (2006). He currently lives and works in Beijing and Hangzhou.
